Durante sua carreira (ela morreu em abril de 2003), ela seguiu entre soul, jazz, pop, gospel e blues, escrevendo e cantando (sua "Mississipi Goddamn", sobre o assassinato de Medgar Evers, está entre os destaques aqui). She was known as the High Priestess of Soul, a gifted and eclectic performer who could captivate audiences with an incendiary stage presence and sometimes even turn on them. During her career (she died in April 2003), she effortlessly segued between soul, jazz, pop, gospel, and blues, writing and singing with fire (her "Mississippi, Goddamn," about the murder of Medgar Evers, is among the highlights here). This live DVD was recorded in London's Soho on November 17, 1985, and features such Simone classics as "I Sing Just to Know I'm Alive," "The Other Woman," "If You Knew," and her signature take on the Gershwin classic "I Loves You, Porgy."
